轆轤は厳しく端正な成形、高台の削りも素晴らしくまた硬筆の筆を巧みに操り、豊かな葡萄文を描き出した甕屋谷窯の名品と呼ぶに相応しい絵唐津大平鉢です。
細筆と太筆を自在に使い分け、淀みのない筆致で描かれた葡萄文は、上品な趣を湛えながらも、伸びやかで力強い躍動感に満ちています。筆の運びの速やかさと、一筆一筆に込められた確かな描写、その双方が見事に調和した、絵唐津の逸品
伝世品としてのコンディションも特筆すべきものがあり、ニュウが三本ほど見受けられるものの、後世の補修や共直しはなく、現状をよく留めた極めて良好な状態を保っています。
周知のとおり、堀の手をはじめとする伝世の古唐津においては、小さな器一点をとっても、無傷、あるいはニュウ程度の僅かな傷に留まるものは決して多くありません。ましてや、このような堂々たる大平鉢において、これほど良好な状態を保つ作例は、なおさら稀有と云えるでしょう。
作行、絵付け、そして伝世品としての状態。そのいずれをとっても見どころに富み、古唐津の魅力と格調を存分に伝える本作。今後、これほどの作行きを備えた絵唐津大平鉢に出会う機会は、極めて限られるものと思われます。

Attributed to the Kayadani kiln, this distinguished E-Karatsu bowl showcases the finest qualities of old Karatsu ware. Its precisely formed body, beautifully carved foot, and expressive grape motif reveal exceptional craftsmanship and painterly mastery.
The decoration combines delicate detail with bold, flowing brushwork, achieving a remarkable balance of refinement and vitality.
Approximately three hairline cracks are present, with no evidence of later restoration or tomo-naoshi. Its remarkably well-preserved original condition is particularly noteworthy, as substantial E-Karatsu bowls surviving with such minimal damage are exceedingly rare.
An outstanding example of old Karatsu ware, distinguished by its artistic merit, craftsmanship, and exceptional preservation.
